Abstract:Facial scraping is a commonly used external therapy in the ffeld of traditional Chinese medicine aesthetics. Guided by the meridian qi-blood theory and holistic concept, it achieves cosmetic anti-aging effects by dredging facial meridians, regulating qi and blood, and nourishing the skin. Originated from the ancient stone needle therapy, it has long been applied for facial conditioning and skin nourishment. After inheritance and development, it has become a common external therapy for anti-aging in traditional Chinese medicine aesthetics with increasingly extensive clinical application. Although this therapy is widely used at present, there are still problems including inconsistent operation speciffcations, superffcial mechanism research and lack of uniffed criteria for efficacy evaluation. This paper summarizes the tools, manipulation techniques, acupoints, clinical efficacy, safety risks and contraindications of facial scraping, so as to promote the standardization of operation and clariffcation of action mechanism, and further facilitate the safe, standardized and scientiffc application of facial scraping in traditional Chinese medicine aesthetics.
