Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of medical cosmetic suture on eyelid morphology and physiological function in female patients with eyelid laceration. Methods A total of 32 patients with eyelid laceration who underwent conventional layered appositional suture from April 2023 to April 2024 were retrospectively selected as the control group, and 35 patients who received medical cosmetic suture from May 2024 to October 2025 were selected as the observation group. The suture efficacy, postoperative complication rate, eyelid morphology, physiological function and cosmetic effect were compared between the two groups. Results There were no significant differences in the primary wound healing rate and postoperative complication rate between the two groups (P>0.05). The excellent and good rate of eyelid morphology recovery in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). At 2 and 4 weeks after surgery, there were no signiffcant differences in eyelid closure score and blink frequency between the two groups (P>0.05). At 2 and 4 weeks after surgery, the VSS scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Both medical cosmetic suture and conventional layered appositional suture can ensure favorable suturing efficacy and restore normal eyelid physiological function. However, medical cosmetic suture is superior in improving postoperative eyelid morphology and reducing scar formation.
