Abstract:Objective: To explore the improvement effect of low-frequency pulsed electrical stimulation combined with oral facial sensory-motor training on the facial symmetry index, lip outline aesthetic score, and surface electromyographic signal characteristics of patients with facial nerve injury. Methods: The clinical data of 60 patients with facial nerve injury from January 2023 to January 2025 were retrospectively analyzed. They were divided into the control group (30 cases, oral facial sensory-motor training) and the observation group (30 cases, low-frequency pulsed electrical stimulation combined with oral facial sensory-motor training) according to the intervention plan. The intervention lasted for 8 weeks, and the changes of various indicators before and after the intervention were compared between the two groups. Results: After the intervention, the facial symmetry index of the observation group (92.47 ± 3.18) was higher than that of the control group (85.36 ± 3.62), the lip outline aesthetic score (8.41 ± 0.73) was higher than that of the control group (7.12 ± 0.85), and the maximum amplitude of the surface electromyography of the orbicularis oris muscle (487.36 ± 42.18) μV was higher than that of the control group (421.83 ± 40.27) μV, and the muscle contraction duration (0.82 ± 0.11) s was shorter than that of the control group (0.97 ± 0.13) s (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Low-frequency pulsed electrical stimulation combined with oral facial sensory-motor training can improve the facial symmetry of patients with facial nerve injury, enhance the lip outline aesthetic score, and enhance the electrophysiological activity of the oral facial muscle groups, achieving synchronous improvement of functional rehabilitation and appearance aesthetics.
