Abstract:Department of Dental Endodontics? Huaxia Stomatological Hospital of Suzhou? Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province? 215000
?? :Objective? To explore the aesthetic effect of resin ceramic inlay combined with root canal therapy in the restoration of large area defects of molars. Methods? Ninety patients with extensive molar defects admitted to the Department of Endodontics at our hospital from January 2024 to December 2024 were selected and randomly divided into an observation group (n=45) and a control group (n=45) using a random number table method. Both groups received comprehensive root canal treatment first. The control group was directly filled with composite resin for repair, while the observation group was indirectly repaired with resin super ceramic inlay. The aesthetic evaluation of two groups of restorations, the chewing function indicators before and after restoration for 3 months, and the defect rate of restorations within 12 months after restoration were compared. Results After 12 months of repair, the observation group had significantly higher A-level rates in various dimensions such as restoration morphology, edge suitability, color matching, and surface texture in USPHS evaluation compared to the control group (P < 0.05); After 3 months of repair, the bite force and chewing efficiency of both groups were significantly improved compared to before repair (P < 0.05), and the above indicators in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05); Within 12 months after repair, the defect rate of the repair in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion Resin ceramic inlay combined with root canal therapy for repairing large area defects of molars is superior to traditional composite resin direct filling in restoring chewing function and improving aesthetic effects, and the stability of the restoration is better.
