Abstract:Dento-maxillofacial deformity presents with diverse clinical manifestations, affecting not only facial aesthetics but also leading to dysfunctions in mastication, phonation, respiration, and the temporomandibular joint. For moderate to severe skeletal deformity, it is often difffcult to achieve both morphological reconstruction and occlusal stability with orthodontics or surgery alone, and combined orthodontics and orthognathic treatment has become a routine protocol. In recent years, the continuous progress of digital imaging, three-dimensional virtual surgical planning, micro-screw anchorage and invisible orthodontic techniques has made the combined treatment more accurate in diagnosis and evaluation, treatment planning and efffcacy prediction. This paper brieffy reviews the etiology and diagnostic points of dento-maxillofacial deformity, focuses on the theoretical basis of the synergy between orthodontics and orthognathic surgery, sorts out the main treatment modes including classic three-stage, Surgery First and digital integrated therapy, discusses the combined treatment strategies and precautions combined with Class Ⅲ, Class Ⅱ, asymmetrical and vertical deformities, and brieffy discusses the application prospects of relevant new technologies, so as to provide theoretical reference for the standardized implementation and individualized decision-making of dento-maxillofacial deformity correction.
