Abstract:Objective To explore the efficacy of Jiawei Liangxue Wuhua Decoction and intense pulsed light (IPL) in treating acne rosacea patients. Methods A total of 102 acne rosacea patients from February 2023 to October 2025 who were admitted to our hospital were selected, and randomly divided into the control group (n=51, IPL treatment) and the study group (n=51, Jiawei Liangxue Wuhua Decoction and IPL treatment). The improvement in skin condition, TCM syndrome scores, acne rosacea severity, and quality of life in both groups were compared. Results After treatment, in comparison of the control group, facial skin transepidermal water loss (TEWL) in the study group was lower (P<0.05), stratum corneum hydration was higher (P<0.05). After treatment, in comparison of the control group, the TCM syndrome scores of the study group were lower (P<0.05). After treatment, in comparison of the control group, the global acne grading system (GAGS) score of the study group was lower (P<0.05). After treatment, in comparison of the control group, the dermatology life quality index (DLQI) score of the study group was lower (P<0.05). Conclusion The combined treatment of Jiawei Liangxue Wuhua Decoction and IPL can effectively improve the skin health status of patients with rosacea, reduce TCM syndrome scores, alleviate acne severity, and consequently minimize the negative impact of the disease on patients' quality of life.
