Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of orthodontics combined with implant denture restoration on masticatory function in patients with dentition defect accompanied by malocclusion. Methods A total of 60 patients with dentition defect accompanied by malocclusion admitted to Afffliated Stomatology Hospital of Guilin Medical University from January 2024 to April 2025 were selected as the research subjects, and they were divided into the control group and the observation group by the random number table method, with 30 patients in each group. The control group received implant denture restoration, and the observation group received orthodontics combined with implant denture restoration. The clinical efffcacy, masticatory function, dental plaque index and aesthetic satisfaction were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of the observation group (93.33%) was higher than that of the control group (70.00%) (P<0.05). The masticatory efffciency and mean occlusal force of the observation group after treatment were higher than those of the control group, and the occlusal balance grade was lower than that of the control group (P<0.05). The dental plaque index of the observation group at 1 and 2 months after treatment was lower than that of the control group (P<0.05). The scores of tooth arrangement, facial coordination, smile aesthetics and overall satisfaction of the observation group were higher than those of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Orthodontics combined with implant denture restoration in the treatment of patients with dentition defect accompanied by malocclusion can effectively improve masticatory function and oral hygiene, and achieve good aesthetic satisfaction, so as to improve the overall curative effect.
