Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of WeChat-based continuous nursing intervention on periodontitis rate and periodontal indexes in orthodontics patients. Methods A total of 90 patients undergoing orthodontics treatment in the Stomatology Clinic of the Second People's Hospital of Tongzhou District from July 2023 to July 2025 were selected as the research subjects. According to the random number table method, they were divided into the control group and the observation group, with 45 patients in each group. The control group received conventional nursing, and the observation group received WeChat-based continuous nursing intervention on the basis of conventional nursing. The periodontitis rate, periodontal indexes and Self-Efffcacy Scale for Self-Care (SESS) score were compared between the two groups. Results The incidence of periodontitis in the observation group at 1, 2, and 3 months after nursing was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). The scores of PLI and GI in the observation group after nursing were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). The SESS score of the observation group at 3 months after nursing was higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion WeChat-based continuous nursing intervention helps maintain the periodontal health of orthodontics patients, improve their oral health self-efffcacy, and thus effectively reduce the incidence of postoperative periodontitis.
