Abstract:Objective: To explore the therapeutic effect of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) combined with coronally advanced flap (CAF) surgery in the treatment of gingival recession (GR), and to provide guidance for clinical practice. Methods: A total of 98 GR patients admitted to the Department of Periodontology of Wuxi Stomatological Hospital from January 2022 to October 2024 were selected and randomly divided into Group A and Group B, with 49 patients in each group. The clinical indicators (gingival recession depth [GRD], probing depth [PD], width of keratinized gingiva [WKG]), root coverage rate, tooth sensitivity, aesthetic index (pink esthetic score [PES]), and patient satisfaction were compared between the two groups. Results: After treatment, the GRD and PD of Group B were (0.63±0.25) mm and (1.44±0.28) mm, respectively, which were lower than those of Group A [(0.89±0.32) mm and (1.56±0.35) mm, respectively], while the WKG of Group B was (4.41±0.60) mm, which was higher than that of Group A [(3.16±0.52) mm] (all P<0.05). The root coverage rate of Group B was higher than that of Group A (P<0.05). After treatment, the tooth sensitivity score of Group B was lower than that of Group A, and the PES score was higher than that of Group A (both P<0.05). The patient satisfaction of Group B was higher than that of Group A (P<0.05). Conclusion: PRF combined with CAF surgery has a definite curative effect in the treatment of GR. It can improve clinical indicators, increase root coverage rate, reduce tooth sensitivity, enhance aesthetic effect, and improve patient satisfaction, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
