Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the aesthetic outcomes and safety of different upper eyelid blepharoplasty techniques in patients with single eyelids accompanied by mild ptosis, and to provide a reference for clinical surgical selection.
Methods: A total of 50 patients with single eyelids accompanied by mild ptosis treated between January 2024 and January 2026 were enrolled in this study. The patients were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group using a random number table method, with 25 cases in each group. The control group underwent conventional upper eyelid blepharoplasty, while the observation group received modified upper eyelid blepharoplasty. Postoperative eyelid morphology improvement, aesthetic satisfaction, improvement in upper eyelid function, and the incidence of complications were compared between the two groups.
Results: The observation group showed significantly higher scores in postoperative eyelid natural appearance, bilateral symmetry, and overall aesthetic satisfaction compared with the control group (P < 0.05). Improvement in upper eyelid lifting function was also significantly better in the observation group than in the control group (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of postoperative complications between the two groups (P > 0.05).
Conclusion: Compared with conventional upper eyelid blepharoplasty, modified upper eyelid blepharoplasty provides superior aesthetic outcomes and effectively improves upper eyelid function in patients with single eyelids accompanied by mild ptosis, with good safety and clinical applicability.
