Abstract:Anterior disc displacement without reduction (ADDWoR) of the temporomandibular joint is a common disease in stomatology, with clinical manifestations including limited mouth opening, pain in the joint area and resolution of joint clicking. In recent years, it has been confirmed that ADDWoR is closely related to condylar resorption, mandibular development abnormalities and maxillofacial morphology changes. This paper systematically reviews the pathological mechanism of ADDWoR affecting maxillofacial morphology, and based on the principle of "stepwise and sequential treatment", expounds the new progress in clinical application from conservative treatment, minimally invasive intervention to surgical treatment, in order to provide reference for the formulation of comprehensive diagnosis and treatment plans in clinical practice.
