Abstract:Objective:To analyze the effects of orthodontic treatment on patients" facial aesthetics and psychological state. Methods:A total of 78 patients undergoing orthodontic treatment at our hospital from January 2023 to December 2023 were selected as the study subjects. All patients were followed up until one month after the removal of orthodontic appliances, with the follow-up period extending until October 2025. The Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need-Adult Aesthetic Component (IOTN-AC), the Pink Esthetic Score (PES), the White Esthetic Score (WES), and radiographic findings were used to assess facial aesthetics before treatment and one month after appliance removal. Additionally, the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), the Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS), and the General Self-Evaluation Scale (GSE) were employed to evaluate psychological status. The impact of orthodontic treatment on facial aesthetics and psychological state was analyzed. Results:Among the 78 patients, post-treatment IOTN-AC scores (1.62±0.35) were significantly lower than pre-treatment scores (3.89±0.54), while PES and WES scores (11.87±1.02 and 8.02±0.72, respectively) were significantly higher than pre-treatment scores (6.18±0.67 and 5.22±0.41, respectively) (P<0.05). Post-treatment SNA and ANB angles were significantly lower than pre-treatment values, while SNB angle was significantly higher (P<0.05). Post-treatment SAS, SDS, and GSE scores (41.33±4.16, 42.26±5.77, and 13.57±2.26, respectively) were significantly lower than pre-treatment scores (52.46±5.18, 54.75±4.29, and 22.16±3.54, respectively) (P<0.05). Conclusion:Orthodontic treatment can significantly improve facial aesthetic morphology, effectively alleviate negative psychological states such as anxiety and depression, and enhance self-evaluation, demonstrating high clinical implementation value.
